Feedback & TestimonialsCommission your own unique piece of art. It could be a favourite scene, sunset or landscape from a photograph you have taken, or it could be a pet or loved one, captured in a lively pose that you would like turned into a painting. All commissions are completed on artist stretched canvas in artist quality oil paints to create your timeless piece of art. Every painting is completed with Kay's usual attention to detail to ensure she achieves the best likeness from your reference pictures.
Working from one or more good quality photographs Kay will guide you through the process making sure you get exactly what you want. If you are local to the artist you may be able to take advantage of the free photography session offered to get the best possible photographs to work from. Once your reference material is chosen for Kay to work from, she will keep you informed of the progress so you can see the painting come to life. Alternatively, if you are after a particular still life painting where no photographs are involved, Kay can do your painting from scratch where she will set up the composition and paint it. She will take you through the process from beginning to finished artwork to ensure your commissioned piece is unique. Please see "My Time" and " A Magic Moment" in feedback and testimonials for examples of this kind of commission. Do not hesitate to contact her to discuss your ideas. Paintings can be posted worldwide. Please take a look at Kay's Feedback & Testimonials Page to see completed commissions along with customer feedback. |
If an oil painting is not what you are after, consider having a unique painting done in either pastels or graphite. Kay uses artist quality pastels on pastel-mat (specialised pastel paper that can hold lots of layers of pastel with a fine sandpaper-like texture).
Graphite sketches are drawn on Bristol Board (an extremely smooth thick paper). All pastel paintings are packaged securely before shipping. Framing and mounting is best done where you can collect the artwork in person due to the delicate nature of the pastels and avoid smudging/disturbing. Contact Kay now via the box below to discuss further and to book in. |

Photographs
Please send good clear photographs either by post or digitally (email). Indicate the main photo you wish Kay to work from. All photographs are returned. Photo sessions can be arranged if local. Points to remember: - The clearer the photographs are, the better to work from. Small fuzzy pictures (usually old ones) can prove difficult. - Pictures taken on smartphones are usually acceptable - depending on quality. - Consider the light and shade in your photographs. This is what makes paintings look "real". - If you are unsure whether your photograph can be used for a commission do not hesitate to contact Kay. Sometimes a dull photograph can be transformed into a beautiful painting. How Long Will It Take? Waiting times can vary depending on work load - an approximate completion date will be given at time of ordering. Please allow a minimum of four weeks for any deadline (consider birthdays, anniversary gifts, etc). Shorter deadlines can be met depending on current workload - please telephone to arrange. Christmas orders - please order as early as possible. |
Payment
A deposit of at least 20% is required at the start of every commission, once you are happy for Kay to go ahead. Balance is due on completion. Cash and cheques are accepted as are payments through Paypal and bank transfers (internet banking). All Cheques payable to 'Kay Ashton'. |
