MY TIME oil on canvas 16" x 12"
The first of three specially commissioned pieces by the internationally renown flower textural artist, Clare Sykes, for her father who always says "Aaahhh... my time!" as he pours himself his well deserved tipple. This piece was done from scratch - from gathering the items (it was tough drinking that gin and tonic but it's all in the name of art) to setting up the composition, photographing, rearranging, etc, and finally painting the piece all with Clare's input throughout the process. There is a brilliant video on my Facebook page when he unwraps his painting on his birthday. Click here to view it. Clare Sykes, Worthing, Sussex |
(CAN'T HELP) FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU oil on canvas, 12" x 16"
A Surprise Christmas gift from Linda and Malcolm's children, the painting was taken from Linda's most favourite photo of them both. I have known these two for over thirty years and could not have wished to immortalise a nicer couple in oils, as these two. Amii-Jayne, Laura and Darren Smith, Clare Barrick, Warrington, Cheshire |
CAPTURE EVERY MINUTE oil on canvas, 20" x 30"
"Kay painted a beautiful picture which captured a very special moment: our two children relaxing together after a lovely walk in our favourite place. Kay not only managed to pick up the beautiful colours but somehow the feelings of happiness and contentment, too. Thank you Kay xxx" Ron & Alex Lee, Warrington, Cheshire |

DAISY HILL pastel and pastel pencils on pastel-mat
Lindsay commissioned this painting as as surprise for her husband for their wedding anniversary. It tells the story of their very first meeting, when Mark came up from London.. This is a very special memory for both of them as they fell in love at first sight on this railway station. They are now married with children. A wonderful tale and I was very honoured to be able to capture a very special moment in their lives. Lindsay and Mark Nightingale, Leigh, Lancashire |
SANGRIA WHATEVER THE WEATHER (20" x 30")
HOT TODDY (24" X 18") GENTLEMEN'S CLUB (18" X 24") "I am delighted to have bought 3 of Kay's paintings and looking forward to getting them hung soon. I chose 3 still life pictures as I have always had a penchant for these, and I think that Kay is strong in re-creating a combination of textures; I particularly like her liquid and glass combinations. Kay herself has been very helpful in getting the pictures to me, and in choosing the frames for them too. Thank you!" Clare Smeaton, Appleby, Cumbria |
